Santo Domingo, D.N. – La comandante del Comando Sur del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, la general Laura Richardson, estuvo de visita en la República Dominicana con motivo de participar en la ceremonia de clausura de la competencia regional “Fuerzas Comando 2023”.

En esta competencia regional, la cual es la decimoséptima edición del campeonato desde su creación en 2004, participaron delegaciones de 22 países, incluyendo los Estados Unidos y la República Dominicana.

Fuerzas Comando 2023 afianza las relaciones de cooperación entre las naciones participantes, refuerza la formación y preparación de las destrezas tácticas de las unidades élite en la región para hacer frente a organizaciones terroristas y del crimen organizado.

El presidente Luis Abinader recibió a comandante del Comando Sur del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, la general Laura Richardson.

La visita de la comandante del Comando Sur Richardson incluyó una reunión de cortesía con el presidente de la República Luis Abinader Corona, encuentro que reafirmó los lazos de cooperación en seguridad entre los Estados Unidos y la República Dominicana.

Asimismo, la comandante se reunió con el ministro de Defensa, teniente general (ERD) Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, en la que conversaron sobre temas de interés mutuo y maneras de continuar fortaleciendo la fructífera cooperación en materia de seguridad.

Al concluir su visita de dos días la general Richardson retornó a sus oficinas en la base del Comando Sur de los Estados Unidos en Miami, Florida, junto a la delegación estadounidense participante en la competencia regional.
